Our company is primarily active in the extraction, processing and refining of industrial minerals, particularly quartz, kaolin, feldspar, wollastonite and mica.
In modern production facilities, these raw materials are processed, in some cases surface-modified, and further refined to produce about 700 different high-quality products that are sold in 50 countries around the world.
Our raw materials make valuable contributions in a wide range of industries and diverse areas of application. In particular, our raw materials are widely used in the paper, glass, foundry, ceramic and rubber industries, as well as in the production of paints, lacquers and coatings and in the area of construction chemicals.

Quartz sands from the area of Provodín have been extracted since 1913. Our company continues the tradition of “Prvni severocesky zavod na vyrobu sklarskych pisku a piskovcovych cihel Wilhelm Schulz”.
After 1946, the company traded under the name of “Severoceské piskovny” but was changed several times. In 1992, the company was transformed into a joint-stock company named “Provodínské písky, a.s.“, and has become a member of the Quarzwerke Group.
Our high quality glass sands are traditionally used in the glass industry, in foundries, in the building industry and many other industrial branches.
In addition to our own products, we also offer a wide range of products from our parent company Quarzwerke GmbH.
The purity of the deposit (more than 98% quartz with low contents of iron oxides and titanium) makes the Provodin sands a rare and valued resource.
At present the sands are extracted in two open cast quarries close to Provodin. Due to the nature of the sandstone, blasting is necessary to loosen the rock.
The loosened rock is then passed through a two-stage crusher and transported by conveyor belts to an intermediate storage area, from where it is taken for further processing. For the production of high quality sands for glassmaking, filtration and foundry use, multistage mechanical and hydraulic classifiers are used. Process water is treated before discharge, and sediments from treatment are concentrated by pressing.
The treated sands are despatched as wet sand or are dried in fluid bed dryers and packed as required.
The Provodinske Pisky a.s. has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001. From the extraction of raw materials to the final delivery of the finished product, all of our procedures are subjected to ongoing quality monitoring. The quality of our products is based on outstanding deposits of raw materials as well as modern, efficient processing technology and techniques. We optimize our production technology by making continuous improvements to our processes and by expanding our deposits to ensure a ready supply for future generations. This is the basis for the premium products we supply to our customers.

High quality quartz sands from Provodin have always been the mainstay of our product range.
This range, however, is now extended by incorporating a wide variety of quartz sands from our subsidiary, Kerkosand spol. s r.o. in Šajdikove Humence, as well as silica flour from Minorit s r.o. in Teplice, another of our subsidiaries.
In addition to the above, we also offer a range of special products from our parent company, Quarzwerke GmbH.

Quartz sands from silica sand deposit Provodin are supplied to numerous industries. Quartz sand from Provodin pit because of it high purity (iron oxide lower than 0,020 % = 200 ppm) is an important raw material for the manufacture of glass of all kinds.
We offer the industrial mineral quartz as moist or dry sand, or ground into quartz flour.
